Butterfly Staxx 2 online slot game | GCCans
As the follow-up to Butterfly Staxx, Butterfly Staxx 2 expands the play space so players can unlock additional reel positions and pursue larger combinations. Its feature set includes re-spins, moving stacks of wilds and re-spin retriggers, plus simultaneous play on 3 separate 5x3 slots. Scatters then let players choose between the ‘Butterfly Spins’ and ‘Butterfly Frenzy’ bonus games.
Theme and storyline
The setting is a magical butterfly garden, creating a calm atmosphere while offering a view of the grand landscape beyond the garden.
Graphics, sounds and animations
In Evan Carrington's GCCans review, Butterfly Staxx 2 continues the original's impressive animations, magical 3D effects and beautiful artwork. Its audio remains closely matched to the theme, combining a dreamy tune with the sounds of wildlife buzzing and chirping. Overall, this is another brilliantly designed NetEnt video slot.
Top Casinos to Play Butterfly Staxx 2:
Gameplay
Butterfly Staxx 2 uses 5 reels and 4 rows, with symbols arranged across 40 pay lines, matching the first game. The spin also brings back familiar features including wilds, re-spins, scatters and butterfly spins.
In both the base game and the free spins bonus, 8 regular symbols must line up. A pay line then awards spin-bet multipliers when 5 are aligned, as shown below:
- Yellow butterfly - 2x (the wildcard symbol as well)
- Red flower - 1.6x
- Purple flower - 1.6x
- Light Blue flower - 1.6x
- A, K, Q and J symbols - 0.8x
A yellow butterfly can pay with just 2 symbols on a pay line; every other symbol pays when 3, 4 or 5 connect from left to right.
Bonuses and free spins
Re-Spins: Stacks made up of 1x4 yellow butterfly wilds start the re-spin feature. They may land on any reels, then move to the leftmost reel that butterflies do not already occupy. Each additional butterfly symbol or stack retriggers the feature, repeating the process.
Extra Play Area: When 2 stacks of wild butterflies occupy reels 1 and 2 during re-spins (2x4 butterflies), a second set of 5x4 reels opens. A group of 3x4 butterflies opens a third set of 5x4 reels. Each additional slot game starts with butterfly stacks on reel 1. This is described as creating the potential for wins of progressive-jackpot size, not as a guaranteed result.
All 3 play areas remain active for the entire free-spin round.
Scatter Symbol: On reels 1, 3 and 5, the ‘pink rose’ scatter gives players a choice between the ‘Butterfly Spins’ and ‘Butterfly Frenzy’ bonus games.
Butterfly Spins: In this free-spin bonus, the reels fill with cocoon symbols. Whenever a cocoon is active, it produces a yellow butterfly wild, which flies to the leftmost reel not already occupied by another yellow butterfly wild.
Butterfly Frenzy: This pick-me game asks you to select butterfly symbols to build the win total. It starts with 10 picks, revealing multipliers from 0.4x to 5x.
Bet sizes, RTP and variance
Bets use ‘Levels’ and ‘Coin Values’, with the maximum reaching 1,250 per spin; that is a very high ceiling. The minimum is 0.25 per spin. NetEnt describes the volatility/variance as low/medium and gives Butterfly Staxx 2 an RTP of 96.35%.
Conclusion
The supplied review attributed to Evan Carrington presents Butterfly Staxx 2 as a popular slot. GCCans’ edited account describes its re-spins and free-spins features as distinctive, with up to 3 extra 5x3 reels providing 3 opportunities to land symbol combinations. Spins across all 3 play areas are presented as free; these feature descriptions do not guarantee a win.
