The Wildos: Xmas Xpress online slot review
Thunderkick brings an early Christmas caper to 2026 with The Wildos: Xmas Xpress. You join masked outlaws as they target a gift-laden Christmas train, with the action unfolding across 5x4 reels and 20 paylines. This title follows ‘The Wildos’ and ‘The Wildos 2’, the online slots made by Thunderkick. Wild multipliers, free spins, bonus buys and Bet+ options are all part of the package.
The Wildos: Xmas Xpress - Is It Right For You?
- Play this if: You want an online slot with multiplier wilds in the base game that stay sticky during the free spin bonus.
- Skip this if: You prefer frequent combination wins and more regular multipliers, as medium- or low-volatility slots with plenty of features may be a better fit.
- Bankroll minimum: The minimum bet is 0.10, but the high variance means an ideal minimum bankroll is 10.00.
Multiplier wilds define the game. Bronze, Silver and Gold versions can appear in the base game, then become sticky during the free spins bonus. There are 4 free spins bonuses to choose from.

Theme and First Impressions
The Wild West Christmas setting makes a welcoming first impression, particularly if you enjoy the festive season, although the storyline takes a darker turn. This is not a charitable Christmas tale: a trio of outlaws plans to raid a train carrying gifts and jewellery. The 5×4 reels occupy large desktop displays and smaller mobile screens, while seasonal animations and cartoon comic strips help tell the entertaining story.

How The Wildos: Xmas Xpress Plays – Base Game
The base game uses 5x4 reels and 20 paylines. For a winning combination, the first symbol must land on reel 1, with the remaining symbols appearing on consecutive reels from left to right.
The reels feature 10 regular symbols, scatters and 3 multiplier-wild varieties. Among them, the red outlaw is the top-paying symbol: 5 matching symbols return 20x your bet. The blue and green outlaws award 17.5x and 15x, respectively, when 5 appear.
Multiplier Wilds land on reels 2 to 4 and are represented by different metals. Bronze wilds can boost combinations they complete or extend by 1x, 2x or 3x. Silver wilds offer 5x, 6x or 8x multipliers. Gold wilds included in a symbol combination multiply the win by 10x, 15x or 25x.
- At a 1 EUR bet, the paytable is as follows:

|---|---|---|---|
 | 20.00x | 3.00x | 1.50x |
 | 17.50x | 2.50x | 1.20x |

Bonus Features and Free Spins
- Multiplier Wilds: These wilds substitute for regular symbols. Whenever one contributes to a winning combination, the resulting payout is multiplied by the value displayed on that wild.
- Bounty Poster Feature: Green, Blue and Red posters place Bronze, Silver and Gold wilds on reels 2 to 4. A higher-value wild can also upgrade one with a lower value.
- Bonus Free Spins: Landing 3 scatter symbols opens the bonus game. You then select a preferred free spins round, with each choice using a different multiplier-wild combination.
- 12 free spins with ‘Bronze’ sticky multiplier wilds
- 9 free spins with ‘Silver’ sticky multiplier wilds
- 6 free spins with ‘Gold’ sticky multiplier wilds
- Random: awards one of the three options above at random
- Sticky Wilds: Only the wild colour selected by you—Bronze, Silver or Gold—stays sticky, and this applies only during free spins.
- Super Bonus: Two regular scatters together with one Super Scatter award 12 free spins, with every wild type sticky. Filling reels 2, 3 or 4 with sticky wilds can provide extra spins.
- BET+: The ‘Bonus Boost’ option has a 94.31% RTP and doubles your chance of triggering the free spins bonus. ‘Bonus Boost Plus’ costs 3x your bet, raises the chance to five times the standard chance and has a 94.33% RTP.
- Feature Buy: The regular bonus costs 100x your bet and offers the same four free spins choices available through scatters. The Super Bonus costs 500x your bet.
What to Expect When Playing The Wildos: Xmas Xpress Slot
Evan Carrington’s review describes the high-variance gameplay as producing several spins without a win at times. It also reports runs of wins on consecutive spins or after only a few losing spins, often with a wild multiplier involved. Losing spins could return before the bonus suddenly appeared.
Win Potential and Volatility
The maximum win is 10,000x the bet. RTP is below average at 94.19%, and this is a high-volatility online slot.
Bet Range and Who It Suits
Bets range from 0.10€ to 100€. That span caters to budget players as well as high rollers. The slot may also appeal to players interested in bonus buys, though the 100x and 500x costs for those rounds are substantial.
Mobile Performance
In the original review, Evan Carrington reports that The Wildos: Xmas Xpress loaded quickly on standard smartphone screens and tablets, with gameplay matching the desktop version. It operated in both portrait and landscape, although landscape was preferred because the reels use the screen width; portrait leaves gaps above and below.
Alternatives to The Wildos: Xmas Xpress Slot
| Slot | Provider | RTP | Max Win | Main Mechanic |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Wildos 2 | Thunderkick | 94.19% | 10,000x | 5x4 slot with 20 paylines, as well as multiplier wilds, a ‘Wanted’ feature and a selectable bonus |
| Wild West Gold | Pragmatic Play | 96.51% | 10,000x | 5x4 slot with 40 paylines, additive multiplier wilds and sticky wilds available during free spins |
The Wildos 2 offers almost the same slot experience without the Christmas presentation. Beyond the ‘Wanted’ feature, the two games are alike for RTP, maximum win, symbol payouts, volatility and gameplay. Wild West Gold by Pragmatic Play is another comparable option, using the same 5x4 reel layout with double the paylines.
Verdict – Is The Wildos: Xmas Xpress Worth Playing?
The reasonable symbol-combination payouts are the main draw. A wild multiplier appearing in one of these base-game wins can increase a standard payout by up to 25x. When free spins begin, those multiplier wilds become sticky, and you can select between bonuses with different free-spin totals and multiplier-wild types.
