Leap Gaming - Interview with Christopher Whittle

Leap Gaming’s catalogue spans 3D video slots, esports, tailored offers, live betting and other products. In this interview, the provider describes its approach to testing, quality, compliance, ongoing monitoring and transparency in its operator relationships. These are company claims reported at the time, rather than an independent assessment.

Leap Gaming - Interview with Christopher Whittle

In an interview, Christopher Whittle, Casino Product Manager at Leap Gaming, reflected on the provider’s earlier work, its current direction and what it hoped to develop next. He noted that he had been part of Leap Gaming for almost two years.

Q1.: Hi, please introduce yourself and your role in Leap Gaming

Hi GCCans, I’m Christopher Whittle, Casino Product Manager at LEAP-Gaming, where I work to bring partners our latest i-gaming content through the company’s distribution channels. My role also involves supporting the teams’ objectives and advising on game design and development priorities. The aim is to deliver new products while maintaining the quality Leap’s players expect.

Q2.: Which was Leap Gaming’s vision when the Company was founded and how did it evolve within time?

LEAP was founded on the idea of building a comprehensive casino games catalogue, with gamers’ needs at its centre. The company also values learning and professional development throughout the organization. Whittle said this quality-led approach helps the content improve with each release, while the founding principles continue to guide employees’ work.

Q3.: Leap Gaming’s offer is quite impressive: Instant Sports, Slots, Table Games, Lottery etc., which is the most popular product?

At the time, Whittle said virtual sports were attracting strong interest and represented the largest share of Leap’s revenues. He also described growth in the traditional casino range, which he linked to the quality of the products being developed.

Q4.: You are focusing in 3D games. Why and which are the pros of this choice?

Leap chooses between 2D and 3D production according to what each game calls for, applying a quality-first approach across virtual products and slots. A realistic racecourse or an animated four-legged animal, Whittle explained, can demand a 3D pipeline that 2D cannot deliver. He also pointed to emerging use of REAL live-action footage combined with game-engine graphics, with the longer-term possibility of placing players in virtual versions of real sporting venues. The right approach depends on the game.

Q5.: How do you stand out in a highly competitive market as the Online Gaming one?

Whittle credited Leap’s mobile-first and quality-first priorities, along with a focus on users when designing its games. He said the company saw this approach as helping it distinguish itself among leading Tier 1 providers worldwide.

Q6.: Leap Gaming recently acquired the UK license. How will this change your strategy?

Whittle said the UK online casino market had been a long-term focus and that this direction remained unchanged. He explained that the games were conceived to meet the standards of the UK online casino market and the UKGC. Leap’s stated plan was to broaden distribution through selected publishing partners and, where possible, use direct integrations through its own RGS to extend the reach of its content.

Q7.: Are you aiming to get other licenses too (ex.: the Italian one)?

Whittle described licensing as a core requirement for operating in regulated i-gaming markets. He said Leap aimed to obtain licenses that would support operations in more countries, and that its plans included markets where it was not then licensed, such as the rapidly growing US market.

Q8.: Looking at the future, how do you think the Gaming Industry will change?

Whittle expected the casino sector to keep growing and changing, with ongoing advances in innovation and product quality across global i-gaming markets. He also anticipated further mergers and consolidation, alongside continued competition to lead the industry. For Leap, he said the plan was to grow and bring new gaming ideas to market while exploring what its products could do.

Q9.: You are soon to release Greyhounds Streak. Can you tell us more about it?

Whittle outlined Greyhounds Streak as featuring 6 greyhounds on a highly realistic track. Collecting 6 Medals awards a Free Bonus Round. Players can skip and re-bet, or use the Re-bet x2 button to increase their stake. The game’s interface can be tailored to a brand, and its On-Demand feature starts a race after a bet is placed. Each player receives a uniquely generated game.

Q10.: Is there anything you would like to add?

Whittle said Leap was planning Wild Joker and Sweet Vegas for release in June and July. Both were video Slot Games built around distinctive mechanics and a player-focused design, while drawing on more traditional i-Gaming conventions. He described the games as combining new features with rules intended to be easy to grasp from the first spin, and said the team hoped readers would enjoy them as much as it had enjoyed making them.
